For what do I stand?

I am very afraid that in the coming months, and then again in the next two years, we are going to hear an aweful lot about what makes good government. And the more that I think of it, the more that I am dismayed. I think that the arguements that we are seeing, are hearing, have more to do with which team wins than with what is the best decision for us.

How are we to decide who should govern us through the lenses of abortion, of religion, of economics and education? Rather what we should be doing is sitting and thinking through what is in front of us. What is the issue today and what do we think will be that issue tomorrow?

I get so angry when we argue about which team is better.

What do we need?

I think that this is what we need:

  • We need a country that can defend itself.
  • Education system that serves us all.
  • Less, not more, government.
  • A nation that allows a person who earns the dollar to spend the dollar.
  • A place that takes care of people who need taking care of.
  • A balanced budget. (Though please check back on what that might mean).
  • Removal of religion from the politcal process.
